Charitable Remainder Trust

Every time Jesse Moore sees a small jar of O-Sage pimentos or Ga.-Red tomatoes on a supermarket shelf, they bring back memories of the years he helped sell the items throughout his life in Haddock, GA.

Those cans and jars of vegetables, which also contained peaches and field peas under those labels, provided a good income, helped feed his family, and put a roof over their heads. And they provided a quality to his life that enabled him to become a pillar of Haddock Baptist Church. Moore's loyalty to Cherokee Products parallels his loyalty to his church; for 60 years an employee and for 60 years a deacon.

In 1989 Mr. Moore, and his wife Hazel, decided to set up a Charitable Remainder Unitrust through the Georgia Baptist Foundation to provide more structure to their estate planning. At the time of their deaths the proceeds will benefit the ministries of the Cooperative Program. It?s a decision he has never regretted.

JESSE: Hazel and I could have established a fund somewhere else with a secular planner but we have been pleased with the Foundation. And, most important, we wanted to do something that would benefit the Lord's work down the road.
